Universal Precautions

To protect you health, we adhere to what are called universal precautions. That means we use the same protective measures with every patient to prevent transmission of infectious diseases.

As a dedicated dental team, we are concerned about our patients, and know that great trust is placed in us every time you visit our office. We do not take this trust lightly.

Many hours have gone into the design of our infection control system. We are constantly evaluating and upgrading our procedures. The use of gloves, masks, and protective eyewear are the more prominent steps that are taken to ensure your safety.

Some of the less obvious steps are:

After each patient visit, treatment rooms are thoroughly wiped with a surface disinfectant. All work surfaces, chairs, hoses, handles, and equipment used are treated.

Disposable products are used whenever possible. Anything that touches the mouth that cannot be sterilized in an autoclave is disposed of. Items such as polishing cups, needles, anesthetics, air/water tips, suction tips, are all disposable.

All handpieces and instruments are sterilized in a pressurized steam oven called an autoclave.

All contaminated waste, along with any sharp items, are disposed of in special containers.

Some of these precautions are readily visible to you during a dental visit. You'll be able to notice the general cleanliness of the office. We want you to be assured that you are getting the very best and safest dental care we can provide.
